Bison Attacks Tourist at Yellowstone

Thursday, July 1, 1999
"On July 1, 1999 a tourist in Yellowstone park was attacked by a bison. He states he was observing the resting bison from a distance of about 15 yards when the bison suddenly stood and appeared to charge. The tourist dove to the ground, landing supine. According to the victim, the bison "sat" on him. The victim suffered multiple rib fractures and was hospitalized at Lake Hospital in the park. The incident was not witnessed and the bison was never identified."
