Croc attack leaves man with broken skull

September 22, 1999

A far north Queensland man has been airlifted to Townsville for neurosurgery after a crocodile attacked him, leaving him with a broken skull.

The attack occurred at the Russell Heads boat ramp near Babinda late Monday night.

Innisfail police say the man was transported to a nearby doctor by a friend and was treated for cuts to his face and neck.

An ambulance spokeswoman says he was airlifted to Townsville General Hospital for surgery yesterday.
