Killer Whale Tries to Bite Trainer at Seaworld
AP 13-JUN-99

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- It's not something you normally see at SeaWorld.

A killer whale tried to bite a trainer during a show before hundreds of spectators at the San Diego park, but the trainer escaped injury by quickly jumping out of the water.

A spokesman says the show ended a few minutes earlier than usual Saturday after the five-thousand-pound whale tried to "nip" the trainer.

The 23-year-old female whale will be allowed to participate in shows.

But trainers won't go in the water with her until officials find out what caused her behavior.
