                  HAMPTON, New Brunswick (AP) - A woman was in serious condition in a
                  hospital Wednesday after being attacked by a black bear while walking her
                  dogs.

                  Pat Clark suffered lacerations to her face, arms and torso during the mauling
                  Tuesday night.

                  She remained conscious after getting away from the bear and ran more than a
                  half mile to get to a phone and call for help.

                  The Department of Natural Resources set up a trap in woods where the
                  attack occurred and warned people to avoid the area.
