TOP SECRET ANIMAL ATTACK FILES
from The Houston Chronicle

    A new tollway traffic-stopper: 6-foot gator

June 27, 2001, 7:41PM

By S.K. BARDWELL

The Hardy Toll Road near Farm Road 1960 was closed for about an hour early today as Texas Parks & Wildlife workers wrestled a six-foot alligator off the roadway.

The rescue was managed eventually with the help of a tow truck driver, Harris County Sheriff's Department deputies said.

It is unknown how the alligator reached the road, but deputies said it was taken to a safe place to be released.
